Ellen Francis Gibbons is a model and actress. Originally hailing from the countryside of Lincolnshire, Ellen is based in London with her daughter. Graduating from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Ellen has performed both on the stage and screen. Recently, she starred in the Oscar shortlisted short film The After, directed by Misan Harriman. How do you start your day?
I start my day much earlier than I’d like to! On weekdays it’s up before my toddler so that there is time to shower and dress before she wakes. She recently started nursery and currently take 45 minutes to eat a piece of toast so mornings usually culminate in a mile sprint to school! Weekends are more idyllic, I light incense, put on Spotify or a podcast and we play, read and water the plants over a more leisurely breakfast before heading to the park or farmers market.
What is your fashion philosophy?
Maybe it’s a stereotype, but less is definitely more.
Can you share a styling trick with us?
Saw this one on an Instagram reel and it makes sense…if you match the colour of your shoe to the colour of your shirt, you’ll always look put together.
What inspires you?
London(ers) inspire me. Having lived in the countryside for nearly four years, it’s so inspiring being back in the chaos of this city bubbling with ideas and individuality.
How do you unwind?
This year I have become obsessed with HEAT. Saunas, hot baths, steam rooms, you name it. It was such a long cold start to the year it’s become my favourite way to unwind in the evenings. With a small child at home it’s hard to take time for yourself sometimes and so a hot bath after her bedtime is pure bliss!
If you could visit anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be?
For years I’ve always been desperate to make it out to Bhutan and travel across its extraordinary terrains.
For somewhere I HAVE visited and loved, Berber Lodge in Morocco- pure escapism, faultless good taste, low key energy and only a few hours from London.
Can you tell us something you discovered recently?
Very late to the party but Earl Grey tea.
What is the best part of your job?
The travel, the people, the unpredictability (though sometimes that’s also a curse).
Which shoes do you love this season?
I’m loving everything with a kitten heel. I walk everywhere in the summer so it’s liberating to be able to wear a stunning show and hop around town.
